We loved how this hotel had a great mix of traditional and modern Japanese decor. Our room was spacious with a beautiful view and had everything we needed from a proper tea set to a fast Wi-Fi connection. The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome even though we didn't speak much Japanese. We also enjoyed the delicious Japanese-style breakfast and dinner served in the room.
Nothing I didn't like to be fair.

This ryokan is a great place for an authentic Japanese experience with friendly service and comfortable tatami mat rooms. the indoor and outdoor onsen are a delight. Guests can savor traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner options that come with plenty of variety and quantity. the location is serene amid breathtaking mountain views, and near great natural attractions like the Zao Fox Village and the Funaoka Castle Ruin Park. the cozy rooms come with exceptional facilities, like a warm and comfortable futon/tatami and an outdoor onsen with mountain views.
There are no nearby restaurants, making it a bit inconvenient to find meals if you want to eat out.

Great amenities and beautiful surroundings! The room was spacious and there were lots of traditional furnishings to enjoy. Loved the outdoor bath, with mountain views and plenty of space to stretch out. The staff were friendly and helpful. The shuttle provided by the hotel was a nice extra and helped with transportation around the area.
Getting to the hotel was a bit of a hassle since it's located in a remote area. Not much to do or see outside of the hotel, which can be a problem for those looking for entertainment during their stay.

Spent Xmas at a traditional Japanese hotel and enjoyed every moment! the food was amazing, with kaiseki-style meals that were both delicious and beautifully presented. the staff were also very courteous and friendly, going above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. There were two indoor baths available and one outdoor bath that we loved using and they were always very clean. the hotel was situated amidst beautiful Japanese scenery and we enjoyed taking long scenic walks in the outdoors.
Although the hotel was situated amidst beautiful Japanese scenery, it was quite far from the nearest town and required a decent amount of travel time. we found the price of the hotel to be a bit steep considering the distance and the expense of the additional meals and services.

I had an amazing stay at a ryokan in Shiroishi! The staff was friendly and helpful, and the ryokan itself was beautifully decorated with a mix of traditional and modern elements. The room was spacious and had lovely amenities, including a tea set. The baths were exceptional, especially the outdoor one. The dinner and breakfast were delicious and served in-room. The ryokan also offered a free shuttle service to the train station.
Can't fault the property in any way.
